Who We Are

We want to do everything we can to support you and your family. But before you sit down with us, take a few moments to learn about our family here at Toeppen & Grevious.

Toeppen & Grevious is a family and estate law firm that serves clients throughout Sacramento, Yolo, Placer, Alameda, Stanislaus, and San Joaquin counties. We also accept clients from outlying areas, such as Amador and El Dorado counties.

Lora Grevious

My area of legal focus is civil litigation and family law. I have litigated dozens of cases over the last 3 years in civil and family court throughout California, as well as civil cases in Florida, where I am also licensed. Additionally, I have drafted, negotiated, and reviewed many types of business contracts, including franchise agreements, service agreements, partnership agreements, construction contracts, private loan agreements, rental agreements, and family law contracts such as prenuptial agreements and marital settlement agreements.

My goal is always to find the best solution for my client’s issues while taking into account the time, stress, and expense of litigation. I believe that I am different from most attorneys, because I take the time to understand my clients and what really matters to them. Sometimes I have to tell clients something that they don’t want to hear, but I will do everything I can to help them achieve what is most important to them. That is the most rewarding part of my job: finding legal solutions that give families the best possible chance of flourishing in the future.

I believe in the spirit of community involvement and volunteering. I have volunteered with many organizations over the last 15 years, including Legal Aid of Sonoma County, which provides free legal services to low-income families, and Habitat for Humanity, an international organization that provides homes to families who are homeless or have insufficient shelter. I also volunteer my time to several providers of free legal services in Sacramento County.

I attended law school at University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, and received my J.D. in 2011 with a certificate in Advocacy. In 2008 I received a B.A. in American Multicultural Studies from Sonoma State University, and obtained an A.A. in History from Santa Rosa Junior College in 2006. I received numerous distinctions and awards throughout my time in college for academic success and community involvement.

When I’m not in the office, I like to spend time with my family hiking, exploring, cycling, and appreciating everything that Sacramento has to offer. I also enjoy home brewing and tasting craft beers and wine.

I am an attorney focused on providing legal services to the many communities of the Central Valley. Most of my professional work focuses on conservatorships, wills and trusts, small business planning, and civil and probate litigation.

What I enjoy most about my job is helping my clients achieve their goals, such as making important decisions for a disabled love one, avoiding California’s burdensome probate system, starting a business, or minimizing the downsides of litigation while maximizing results.

It’s taken a lot of risk, hard work, support from family and friends, and more than a bit of luck to get this far. Some of my noteworthy professional and personal achievements include:

  • Helping many families protect their disabled or abused loved ones through conservatorships
  • Crafting countless estate plans–such as wills, trusts, and powers of attorney–for California families
  • Litigating probate and civil disputes, both local and international in scope
  • Becoming a licensed attorney in both California and New York
  • Receiving training in the mediation of legal issues by mediator extraordinaire Ron Kelly
  • Developing business-level proficiency in Japanese, both spoken and written (JLPT 1 equivalent)
  • Assisting in the shipping of security-sensitive scientific equipment to and from more than 35 countries

For much of my legal career, I was a sole proprietor of my own law firm. Then in June of 2015, I formed a partnership with my long-time friend, Lora Grevious, an experienced and accomplished family attorney. Since then, we have worked together closely to represent clients throughout the Central Valley. We believe that being in charge of our own law firm allows us to have the unbridled discretion necessary to advance our clients’ interests with custom-made, cost-efficient legal solutions.

In my personal time, I enjoy hiking, traveling, learning new languages, and home-brewing beer.
